Two Bad Ants - Bundle Pack!!

My activities for the book Two Bad Ants by Chris Van Allsburg has been flying off the shelves!  I've decided to bundle them all together to help everyone save over 20%!!!

There are 4 different items available in the bundle pack.  The first one is one of my best sellers.  This is an inferencing pack.  This is differentiated to meet the needs of your students.  This particular activity below gives different quotes from different parts of the story.  I have also added in the clues for the students.  They then take that information to make an inference.  This is also given with the clues box blank for them to complete.

Next I have a point of view activity pack.  This book is a great way to teach point of view!  This was also a great way for my students to identify evidence in a text.

Before I read the story with my groups I introduced vocabulary.  There were a few words my students were unfamiliar with throughout this story so reviewing the words before hand really helped.  I put them on the board and we read them together.  Then when we came across them in the text we worked together to identify the meanings.

Finally I let my students play a comprehension board game.  They worked so hard throughout this unit it was only fair they get some time to play a game.  Plus the game was measuring their comprehension of the story so it definitely was a great addition.

Enjoy!!

A Day At The Beach.. Homophone Activities! **GIVEAWAY**

So I am on vacation at the beach and it is actually a cold rainy day so here I am staring at this beautiful view making a new homophone activity!!

This activity pack has 2 different games (a matching activity and a board game).  The games can also be used as literacy centers so it makes it really functional in your classroom! This is going to be great to use for a center activity for my students when I get back to work!

In this file...

To use this file:

Memory Game: There are 4 sets of this game included in this file. The first 2 (the cards with the suns and sand pails) sets are a lower level and the second 2 sets (The cards with the masks and the crabs) are a higher level. This is great because it can be differentiated within your classroom. Another way to use this file it so have students match the words independently during a literacy center rather than playing a game! That gives you 4 different center activities!!

Board Game: There are 2 sets of cards to use for this game. The first set is a lower level and the second set is a higher level. The game board can be used for either set of cards. You can also use the game board cards as a literacy center for students to use while you complete a reading group!

Spring - Verb Tense Activities - DIFFERENTIATED

I had created a Fall verb tense activity that many people loved and was asked to create a Spring one... soooo here it is!! This is a great activity to use as a review of verb tenses.  There is a sorting activity and the cards can also be used as a game board!

This activity is aligned to the Common Core Standards within many grade levels because the file is differentiated!

**There are 2 sets of cards in this file, a higher and lower set, so this can be used within the differentiated groups in your room.*

My students love the game board, especially the trick cards!

Spring Syllables! **FREE ACTIVITY**

Ahhhh! Spring is in the air! I love when the weather starts getting warm! Today, to mark the beautiful weather, I wanted to do a fun spring activity. I have noticed that my students are still struggling with identifying syllables. We have done tons of just sorting activities that they complete in centers but I was looking for something to engage them a little more.... a BOARD GAME!

I don't know about your students, but mine love playing games!

Board games are a great way to review a skill because the students love completing the activity, especially when they get to compete against a friend!

What I love most about this is that the students get to move how every many syllables are in the word.  I find that the students pay more attention because they don't want their opponent to get free spaces!!

This worked really well in my class as a review of syllables!

Soccer Synonyms

My students LOVED this activity! Soccer is such a big sport in my classroom! We have been reviewing all the skills we have learned throughout the year so this was a perfect activity.  I had them play the board game in groups but there is an option to complete independently as a center.

Definitely check out this activity at my Teacherspayteachers page by clicking here!

The Sweetest Fig

I absolutely love The Sweetest Fig by Chris Van Allsburg! My students loved it also! I created 2 games for them to play after reading the book. One was a cause and effect matching game. My students did awesome with this and they really liked playing the game. The second one was a comprehension board game. My students sometimes have a hard time getting excited about projects but they absolutely loved this game. They didn't want to stop playing!!

Both activities can be found at my teachers pay teachers page by clicking HERE!

Synonym Turtles

I am so excited to get this blog started!! I have been creating a lot of materials for my students lately and really wanted to share.  This is a game I created today for synoynms.  I really enjoy having literacy centers that really grab my students attention so I can really focus on reading groups while they are completing their centers!

This is a game I created using synoynms.  Students will answer multiple choice questions regarding synonyms of the underlined words.  If the students get that answer correct they will move how ever many spaces they rolled.  If the answer is incorrect they will stay where they are!
This game can be found at http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Synonym-Turtle-Game
